The DT001 DCC Decoder Tester

The DT001 DCC Decoder Tester

Basic Instructions

There are only a few connections to make in order to use the decoder tester, simply connect the track output of your controller to the track terminals on the tester, you can then connect either an 8 pin decoder, 6 pin decoder or 21 pin decoder to test via the onboard connections.
The unit then allows you to test each individual function of the decoder connected so the motor on the board will activate to throttle as in an actual locomotive, directional lights are shown by means of active leds, red and white depending on direction of travel on the tester boards FL and FR leds.
You can test the decoders other functions if applicable(up to an additional 4), and these are represented by illuminating the tester boards F1 to F4 functions respectively when selected on your controller. In many decoders additional funtions are provided by loose wires additional to the socket connected ones so these can be connected to the terminals F1-F4 if necessary.
For testing sound decoders please note that there are solder tab terminals on the tester board to which you can connect an external speaker. This however will only be active for a 21 pin sound decoder as this is the only type of sound decoder with integral sound circuits built into the decoder itself.
For 8pin and 6pin sound decoders you need to connect the decoder to the relevant socket and your speaker to the decoder in the same configuration as it would be in a locomotive itself, basic soundtrack for most UK and European applications can then be tested by selecting Function 1 on your controller. At this point, if connected correctly you will hear the sound track starting and the F1 led on the tester board will also illuminate
